Reach Out For Healing

"he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, "Take care of him..." Luke 10:35 Help us take care of victims of faith-based abuse.

Hello again. This is Jordan.

Two weeks ago, I talked about healing. A significant part of this organization’s mission is to help bring healing for those who have been hurt by so-called Christians. We will also help entire churches that have been destroyed by so-called shepherds or members of the flock.

For all of us who have been hurt, we have to reach out to Christ for healing.

Luke 8:43-48 tells us the story of a woman who had been sick for 12 years. She was desperate because she had spent all of her money on physicians and couldn’t be healed. Either by chance or, through her own careful planning, Jesus was going by, and she came behind Him and touched His garment, and immediately she was healed.

She literally reached out to Jesus for healing, and she was healed. Jesus is the Great Physician, but physicians can only help you when you reach out to them and tell them what’s wrong. Although God knows our every need and what we’re going through, we often need to reach out to Him and ask Him for help. There are so many instances in the Gospels where people came searching for Jesus, asking Him to heal them. Prominent officials would send messengers to Jesus, begging Him to heal someone they loved or cared for.

In Matthew 7:7, Jesus says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

All we have to do is reach out to Him – seek Him. We can come to Him in prayer and through studying His Word for the Spiritual Healing that we need. It doesn’t end there. Many who have been abused have wounds that still need to be healed. Psychological wounds as well as Spiritual and maybe even physical wounds. This is where you can reach out to others for help. In the book of Acts, there are many instances where people reach out to Paul and Peter, and many other apostles for healing and for guidance. We can reach out to health professionals or to trusted friends and those who are trained and willing to give the help that you need.

God tells us that He knows the plan that He made for us in Jeremiah 29:11. He goes on to say that “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me, with all your heart.” Even though God has a plan for us, it doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. We have questions, and often we are wounded along the way. But God is there to listen to us and to heal us when we reach and cry out to Him.

“God did so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any of us.” Acts 17:27. We can trust that He will always be near us and reach right back to us.

“And behold a leper came and worshipped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Matthew 8:2,3.

It’s time to reach out for healing.
