A Welcome from the President of C.Y. C.H.R.I.S.T.

Hello and welcome to C.Y. C.H.R.I.S.T.  I am Jordan de Graaff, the President and Founder of this organization. You can read about our mission and vision and learn more about who we are and what we hope to do, but the main reason I wanted to start this organization was because I wanted to be healed from Christianity.

You may think Christianity is an interesting thing to want to be healed from. It is not because I do not want to be a Christian anymore and it is not because I do not believe in Christianity.  I want to be healed from Christianity because of the way so-called “christians” have treated my family.  It is because some “christians” do not act like they have Christ in them.

Most importantly, it is because of how the Christian church has responded to victims of abuse. It has not been a Christ-like response, and it has hurt many innocent people.  It has traumatized not only me, but my entire family.  It has also caused unnecessary pain for countless others who have been the victims of abuse from either clergy, or other church members and leaders.

The place where we go to commune with God and learn about Him, has become a place full of deceit, cover-ups, victim-blaming, judging, and a lot of pain. These behaviors caused injury to me, as well.  I found out about the abuse going on in my church and I witnessed the church’s and the conference’s response to the abuse by doing nothing and trying to cover it up.  I wanted to do something to change that response.  I was hurting and wanted to do something to not only to heal from my own wounds, but help others with their healing as well.

So this organization is meant to be a place where survivors can come to find healing.  We are a young organization and do not have many resources in place yet.  We have provided links to other resources that are more ready and available to help you.  In the near future, we hope to have some resources on our website that can help you through your spiritual journey of healing.

It is time to find healing from the wounds that have been inflicted on you.  It is time for the Christian church to heal from the evil that has been done in our churches.

I have heard your prayers, I have seen your tears; indeed I will heal you. II Kings 20:5
